Gone With the Wind Museum at Brumby Hall
The Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum at historic Brumby Hall includes an enormous collection of Gone with the Wind movie memorabilia and has Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler narrating the sights and sounds of Atlanta during the Civil War and Reconstruction. Fans of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and Academy Award-winning film, as well as history buffs who wish to go back in time and experience the antebellum South, should visit the museum. As you go up the drive to your destination, you feel as if you’ve been transported back in time. Gone With the Wind Museum has been a mainstay in Marietta since its opening in the historic Old Thomas Warehouse Building on Marietta Square in 2003, and it is currently in Brumby Hall. Historic Brumby Hall is cradled in the arms of huge magnolias and verdant grounds. The Marietta Gone with the Wind Museum, which features Dr. Christopher Sullivan’s privately held collection, is housed in the historic residence Brumby Hall. Brumby Hall is a pre-Civil War house and Colonel Arnoldus V. Brumby built it in 1851, a lovely Greek revival-style house. You don’t have to be a die-hard fan of Gone with the Wind to experience the immense history surrounding one of the world’s most popular novels and movies, thanks to a huge collection of artifacts on the book and movie. Since 1936, the novel has never been out of print, and the film is the highest-grossing film of all time (when allowing for inflation). The original Bengaline honeymoon gown worn by Vivien Leigh in her role as Scarlett O’Hara, Margaret Mitchell’s personal volumes of the novel, foreign editions, and an educational display dedicated to the African American cast members, including Oscar winner Hattie McDaniel, are among the museum’s highlights. Rare press and promotional booklets, original screenplays and contracts of the cast members, and conceptual artwork are also included. Visitors may desire to purchase a one-of-a-kind souvenir of their visit from our gift shop before leaving. The museum is frequently regarded as one of the must-see attractions for visitors interested in the South’s rich history and beauty. Guests can also rest on our porch on one of the Brumby Rockers while strolling around the lovely grounds that surround Brumby Hall. Whatever you do inside the limits of this lovely home and gardens, you’ll undoubtedly create lifelong memories. Historic Brumby Hall is within a quarter-mile from the historic Marietta Square and a short walk from the Hilton Marietta Hotel & Conference Center.
